Arles Amphitheatre

Arles, France - 2014

Built in the first century, like the Roman Colisseum, the arena in Arles is among the most beautiful Roman remains in France. Time and bad weather threatened the antique stone work. The first imperative – that’s actually in operation – is to preserve the monument then to restore the facades and the circular galeries. We conceived a process which respects the ruins and protects the altered stone.

The definitive project includes the protection of the monument by a terrace system which collects the rain, and facilities to welcome performances and the public.
