Parlement de Bretagne

Rennes, France - 1999

It was Salomon de Brosse and Germain Gautier who built the Parliament of Britanny in the middle of the 17th century. In 1994, a major fire devastated the highest sections of the monument, but the decorations could be salvaged. From the ruins, the monument was rebuilt and the paneling and paintings re-found their original places. We conceived a new system of carpentry using metal and laminated timber, which allowed the architect Jean-Loup Roubert, to convert the attics into complementary offices.
